Business Mathematics book is primarily intended for the students of B.Com. (Part I) of MATS University, Pandit Ravishankar Shukla University, Bastar University, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Vishwavidyalaya Bilaspur, Sarguja University, Guru Ghasidas University Bilaspur

The unique feature of the book is that a new chapter on Simultaneous equations has been included in the book covering all topics of Unit-I of the new syllabus. Every possible care has been taken to remove errors of print or principle. Still, we stand apologetic for the errors, if any, having crept in the book unnoticed. Unit – I: Simultaneous Equations – Meaning, Characteristics, Methods of Solving Equations in Two Variables – Graphical, Substitution, Elimination, and Cross Multiplication. Linear Programming – Formulation of LLP: Graphical method of solution; Problems relating to two variables including the case of mixed constraints.

Unit – II: Matrices and Determinants: Definition of a matrix; Type of a matrix; Algebra of matrices; Properties of determinants; Calculation of values of determinants to third order; Logarithms & Antilogarithms.

Unit – III: Simple Interest and Compound Interest. Annuities: Types of annuities; Present value and amount of an annuity, including the case of continuous compounding; Valuation of simple loans and debentures; Problems relating to sinking funds.

Unit – IV: Ratio & Proportion. Average – Simple, Weighted and Statistical Averages (Arithmetic Mean). Percentage.

Unit – V: Commission, Brokerage, Discount, Profit, and loss. Transportation Problem.
